São Paulo FAQs
We are so excited for you to experience the amazing energy of São Paulo. It is a major international city, so staying alert and using common sense will ensure you have a safe and stress-free trip. Think of these as friendly reminders to travel smart in a new place.
-
Be mindful of your bags and phones at all times. If you are not using your phone, keep it in your pocket or purse.
If you are walking around on the street and need to call a car or check a map, we recommend you stop into a café or shop to pull your phone out.
While you're out and about exploring, we recommend you keep your valuables somewhere safe in your hotel room or at your Airbnb.
-
You can easily call Ubers to get around the city. We recommend you select the Uber Black option.
Each neighborhood in São Paulo is very walkable with shops and restaurants to explore. But we suggest calling a car to travel between neighborhoods.

General FAQs
-
Thursday's Welcome Drinks is relaxed cocktail. What you would wear to a nice dinner date or a night out with friends is perfect.
Friday's event is dressy casual, so come in something that feels comfortable and you would wear to spend an entire afternoon hanging out in. (But not sweats or athleisure.)
For the wedding day on Saturday, we are requesting guests follow a black tie dress code. It will be fall in Brazil, so the weather will be pretty mild. Think floor-length dresses (bright colors and prints encouraged!), a dark suit and tie, or tuxedo.

If you've primarily attended weddings in the US, you might be used to a pretty structured sequence of events — cocktail hour, then a seated reception with a clear program, toasts, first dances, and so on. Brazilian weddings work a little differently, we think you'll love it! Here's a little rundown of what to expect.
From the moment the ceremony ends, the party begins. There's no holding pattern — you are immediately invited to mingle, grab a drink or fresh coconut water, and help yourselves to the appetizer island and passed hors d'oeuvres. Seating is open, so feel free to sit wherever you like and move around as the night unfolds.
Dinner will be served throughout the entire evening, so there's no rush and no wrong time to eat. Once the dance floor is “officially” open, you can still take a break and have your dinner then! Just make sure to come back to the dance floor to hang out with us. We have a few fun surprises in store throughout the night!!
Traveling Around Brazil FAQs

We are so incredibly excited to celebrate with you in São Paulo. Since you're traveling all this way, we wanted to share a few of our favorite trips you can take before or after the wedding. Brazil is a massive and diverse country, but here are a few options to help you get started! (And do not hesitate to reach out to us directly for more ideas.)
If this is your first trip to Brazil, we recommend a few days in Rio de Janeiro. Only a 45-minute plane ride away, you'll have the opportunity to experience the “Cidade Maravilhosa”, as you've imagined and seen in books and movies. Filled with cultural landmarks, restaurants, and bustling beaches it's great for city explorers, culture lovers and anyone that loves a breathtaking view.
If you are traveling with family and kids, Foz do Iguaçu (or Iguacu Falls) is an excellent option. Home to one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders, it is only 2-hours away from São Paulo. With several great hotel and resort options, the area is filled with activities for the entire family — from thrilling boat safaris to several opportunities to relax and take in the surrounding nature.

We frequently use Your Way Travel, an agency owned by a family friend. Maysa and her team have helped us plan several trips around Brazil and friends of ours have also booked trips through them.
They can help with all trip logistics, like hotels and transportation, as well as finding English-speaking guides to enhance your experience.
